| Diana Sterling
(formerly Haskins)
Founder and CEO
The idea of coaching young people
and their parents had its inception in 1999 when Diana
had an aha! moment- that perhaps professional coaching
with adults could be 'transposed' to working with
teens, parents and families. After working with many teens at a local high
school and experimenting in the daily laboratory of
home life with her own son Jordan, Diana came to a
prophetic conclusion. Teens and other young adults
could be well served by adults who chose to interact
with them using a professional coaching perspective.
Later, with the addition of a second "son"
(an exchange student named Micky), the home coaching
lab moved into high gear. Diana's "experiment"
so improved things in her own home she decided to
share her parenting-coaching insights with adults
who live and work with young people.
The Advanced Coaching Course and
the Parent as Coach Approach is the result. The focus
is on educating parents, teachers, and others who
care for the next generation to coach young people.
Diana's award-winning handbook, Parent as
Coach: Helping Your Teen Build a Life of Confidence,
Courage and Compassion, has been read by
thousands of people all over the world who are now
using coaching skills as a way to improve their relationships
with teens. It has been translated into Spanish and
Korean and receives international distribution through ebooks and audio books as well.
The Advanced Coaching Course is the result of hundreds
of coaches, educators, therapists, and other human
service professionals asking "What is the Parent
as Coach Approach and how can I use it in my work?"
Diana and her team of seasoned educators will bring to you,
the professional, proven tools and techniques for
working with parents, other teen caregivers, and teens
themselves.
Diana has been a devoted member of the International Coach Federation since 1999 when she received her Professional
Effectiveness Coach certification from New Ventures
West. With a prior track record as a successful
business owner and former film and video producer,
Diana founded New Generations
International shortly thereafter.
As a training and coaching company, New Generations
International is the parent organization to three divsions, Parent as Coach, The
Academy for Family Coach Training and Vision
In Action, a business development program
for coaches and other service-based entrepreneurs. She has a Bachelor
of Arts in Drama from San Diego State University and
is currently working towards a Master of Education
degree at Portland State University. Diana is a Certified
Neuro-Linguistic Practitioner, having studied at Life
Design International in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She
serves as Supervising and Guest Trainer for all Family Coach Training courses, bringing
her insights from a diverse background of trainings
and accomplishments.
Diana is featured as a co-author along with Tony Robbins and Dr. Wayne Dyer in the just released WAKE UP:Live the Life You Love/The Power of Team and is also featured in Body for Life for Women by Pam Peeke. She is a member of The International Speakers Network and is a frequent contributor to radio shows worldwide, as well as a sought after speaker.
Her passion is infectious and she
is known for her unique curriculum design and engaging,
facilitative teaching style. Diana is based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA. Also see www.dianasterling.com.
